Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" News
Thursday, January 19 Wes Anderson and Bill Murray are united again with Moonrise Kingdom, set to release May 25, 2012. The film is a wild adventure story, about two prepubescent children who fall in love, decide to run away together, and in doing-so turn their small New England town upside-down. For fans of Wes Anderson, this film promises to deliver on the poignant artificiality that has become his trademark. Anderson’s films exist in a universe of elaborate mise-en-scene, rich colours, French pop songs, detailed costuming, and careful, symmetrical composition that can touch you, shock you, or make you buckle over in laughter. The casting of Bill Murray as the girl’s father signals a continuation of the dry humour that characterizes Anderson’s work, but for me what is most exciting about this trailer is not the humour, but the enchanting scenes of carefree, joyous adventure that the two children share. It’s only too bad that May is still five months away!
