Williamsburg Hipsters Sour My Evening

A couple of weeks ago I was going on about Black Bananas playing in Toronto. I wailed, I lamented my good judgment to move to Montréal and I was feeling pretty lowdown about the whole thing. Then I get an email from Corrie saying she’s tight with their management, let’s try and set something up, an email interview or whatever. So I think to myself fuck it, my girlfriend is going to be in Toronto that weekend already; I’ll go as well, get me into the show I say.

I think hey, even if this doesn’t pan out, Toronto is always worth a laugh or two (ask me about the guy in the food court bathroom of Atrium on the Bay gingerly holding the ‘starter bondage kit’ that he had pulled out of a found duffle-bag beside the handicap toilet next time you see me). But, if it does, I get to go see a band that has not made it’s way north of the border yet. They were close last fall on tour with Lords (Je pense?) and I felt robbed back them, but this could possibly be the realization of a dream. I was pretty stoked.

Black Bananas were supporting Sleigh Bells.

Sleigh Bells are popular.

They’re playing with the Red Hot Chili Peppers soon.

So of course they got asked to play Saturday Night Live on the same day as the Toronto show.

Cancelled.

Here’s Sleigh Bells On SNL.
